Lloydminster Public Library is seeking a creative, innovative librarian with a recent MLS/MLIS who is passionate about services to children and youth to fill a six month leave of absence and trial new service delivery.
Your education and paid or volunteer work experience will assist with the design and implementation of a experience oriented program serving children and youth. A familiarity with current topics and authors will allow you to assist with collection development and staff training. Belief in positive customer service and the ability to deal with the unexpected will prepare you to share person-in-charge duties including a one-in-three Saturday rotation with two other librarians.
Salary is $29.00 to $33.00 per hour plus 6% vacation pay, based on a 35 hour work week. Evenings and Saturdays are a requirement of the position. This is a six month temporary opportunity starting immediately and ending on or before December 31, 2019.
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library school.
Experience in planning and delivering library services including programming, preferably for children (infant to age 17), working with the community and collection management.

Ability to meet the public, promote interest in library services, assist library patrons, and interpret and explain library policies and regulations
Ability to provide advice and direction to non-professional staff engaged in library support duties
Proficient with computer hardware and software including library specific software, internet and digital communications
An acceptable Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check
Fluency in a language other than English is an asset
A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is an asset
